Medicaid cuts are in the budget  If Trump cuts Medicaid, my mother may lose her nursing home and she comes to me. Over the last 7 years since my mom had a stroke that triggered her dementia, there have been moments of   sheer terror. When she was living with my dad, she would tell him she hates him, that she wanted a divorce, throw things at him, call him a coward. He’s 84 and cannot handle her any more. In one particularly awful incident, he called me to come over. When I arrived she was screaming and when I tried to calm her down, she ran to the corner  continuing that primal scream. The only thing I could do was hug her and tell her I love her until she finally stopped. It was a really hard decision to put her in her nursing home but she needed more care. It’s still awful but we know she’s safe but if one congressperson had their mother call them at 2 AM to tell them goodbye while mom had the nurse’s cord around her neck, they’d be disgusted that there is even a whiff of cutting funds. If they had to hear their mom screaming for help when the nurse got on the phone, they would convince everyone to vote against it. 

If Medicaid cuts her funding I will have to take her in. I would ❤️ to have her but I cannot lift her when she falls and don’t have the medical expertise to give her the insulin or dementia medication she needs.  It will be a horrific ending to a life of a woman who taught us that anyone who darkens our door should be treated with respect. My mother was one of those teachers who won Seniors Choice and Top 30 every year because her students knew she cared. She deserves so much better than we can afford but she doesn’t deserve ZERO qualified nursing staff because, God forbid, Elon pay one cent more of his $300+ billion in taxes. She even taught at church and there were so many Sunday mornings she persisted that I get out of bed for her Sunday school classes. She made our lives an adventure and showed us what true love is with my parents’ marriage of 53 years.  My mom is a better person than Elon or Trump can even fathom in their sociopathic minds. For her and all those really great people who need your help, call your congressperson and tell them they work for you, not Elon.
